The 286

And so it came to pass that my uncle gave me a present -- a PC! That was a big leap, and I have never turned back to consoles ever since.

The white greyish body of the computer, containing 5.25" floppy hole, 80286 CPU and monochrome 14" display found the best table in the house. A well equipped gaming rig -- at last! Whooohoo!

The first thing I tried out, besides booting to DOS-something, was a driving game. It may very well have been Test Drive, but I am not sure anymore. Windshield would crash if you made a driving mistake if that helps in someway.

There was also Golden Axe running on the PC from time to time. Some Ninja game, which I cannot recall or find. I enjoyed sneaking fully covered in dark, dropping vague shadows.

The 286 was running pretty much flawlessly, but I wanted to move on. 3D was starting to get more and more attention, internet was on its first steps for more casual users.

And the gaming went to the whole another level on the 15th of August, 1998. I got Pentium2 300MHz PC! With a CD-ROM! The blue wallpaper, super fast Win98, 15" SVGA wonder -- what could one want more? Oh, did I mention 2.0 Typhoon speakers? As I later found out, these things get old and tired pretty fast, and the most time-proof component was SB Live sound card.
The first games I purchased were Tomb Raider 2 and Carmageddon: Splat Pack along with Quake II.

Although I had ATI 32MB video card, I was drooling ower 3Dfx. It's a pity the Voodoo died later on.
My sleepless nights before were nothing comparing to the years to come...
